5th House — Putra Bhav
children, intellect, romance
The Santana Bhava, the House of Progeny
The fifth bhava is the fifth of the twelve houses, one of the domains of life in the birth chart. It is known as the Santana bhava, the house of progeny. The lord of the rashi (zodiac sign) occupying this bhava is accordingly called the Panchamesh (the lord of the fifth), and also the Santanesh (the lord of progeny) or Vidyadhish (the lord of learning). It is from this bhava that one gains knowledge of the native's next generation: how many children there will be, and their nature and character. The native's education is likewise judged from this bhava.
The Karaka: Guru
The karaka (the natural significator) of this bhava is Guru, Jupiter.
