The Sukha Bhava, the House of Happiness and Comfort
The fourth bhava is the fourth of the twelve houses, a domain governing a whole sphere of the native's life. It is known as the Sukha bhava, the house of happiness and comfort. The lord of this house is accordingly called the Chaturthesh (the lord of the fourth) or the Sukhesh (the lord of happiness). It is from this bhava that one assesses the native's prosperity, happiness, and dealings with the mother, as well as her health and lifespan.

The karakas (the natural significators) of this bhava are Chandra, the Moon, and Budha, Mercury. At midnight, the Surya (the Sun) stands in the fourth bhava.

- Medicines and asavas (fermented medicinal preparations)
- Water, milk, and fragrant substances
- Pavilions, ponds, and bridges
- The cloth trade
- Boils
- Aquatic animals and milch animals
- Trees bearing juicy fruits
- The northern direction
- The municipality
- The chemistry laboratory
