Venus in the 4th House

Sukh Bhavmother, home, comfort

Favourable Results

When Shukra (Venus) occupies the 4th house (the Sukha Bhava, the house of the mother, home, and comfort), the native (the person whose chart it is) is learned (vidvan), a leader of men, discerning, devoted to his mother, renowned, and industrious. He attains them all: fame (yasha), wealth (dhana), intellect, and learning (vidya). He is fond of conversation, and fond of fragrant and beautiful things. He meets with success through his travels. Such a native's heart is much drawn to celebrating festivals and to entertainment and the like. He performs work of great importance in society, on account of which the government (rajya), his friends, and other people hold him in high honour. His home is filled with prosperity, with precious things, with gardens and orchards, and with vehicles (vahana). He obtains every material comfort. He serves his mother; yet he is also subject to his wife, though his wife, for her part, serves him most devotedly. After marriage (vivaha) his fortune (bhagya) rises. He takes an interest in dharma and the like, and still more in the path of yoga (yoga marga, the spiritual path).

Unfavourable Results

If Shukra falls under an inauspicious influence, the native is of a distracted, unsettled temperament (vikshipt), given to luxury (vilasi), poor, and miserly, and he is afflicted by kapha (the phlegm-humour) and by diseases of the eyes (netra rog). His mother suffers, and he keeps relations with more than one woman, and these become the cause of his ruin. This Shukra keeps the native anxious with obstacles to his wealth (dhana). His wife's health remains poor, with diseases of the uterus (garbhashay) in particular, and as a result there is a scarcity of children (santana).
