Venus in the 5th House

Putra Bhavchildren, intellect, romance

Favourable Results

When Shukra (Venus) occupies the 5th house (the Putra Bhava, the house of children, intellect, and romance), the native (the person whose chart it is) has happy friends and is very wealthy, a pandit (a learned scholar), prosperous, intelligent, illustrious, and skilled in diplomacy and statecraft. He is versed in many branches of learning (vidya). Even if he is only half-educated he is still counted a learned man, and if his education is complete he writes several granthas (scholarly treatises) and the like. He becomes a minister of state (raja-mantri) or a judge and the like. He enjoys the comfort of vehicles (vahana sukha), gains from the government, and is held in honour. The native comes by wealth and valuables (dhana and dravya) without any special effort. He has a taste for poetry and the like, and is skilled in amorous play (kama-krida). He assuredly comes to have sons (putra) and draws happiness from them, and he has daughters too. His first child is very beautiful and takes an interest in the arts (kala). His son-in-law (damad) also holds him in respect, and his son too is honoured by the government. He assuredly receives the fruit (phala) of mantra-japa (the recitation of mantras) and the like.

Unfavourable Results

If Shukra falls under an inauspicious influence, the native becomes foolish, dull-witted (jada-buddhi), given to luxury (vilasi), lustful, and licentious (vyabhichari, given to adultery). On this account his renown (yasha) wanes and his fortune (bhagya) grows dim. He gains little happiness from sons. Being a great spendthrift, he saves no wealth. He remains indifferent towards his wife, and so good relations do not endure between them.
