Ketu in the 5th House
Putra Bhav — children, intellect, romance
Favourable Results
When Ketu (the south lunar node, a shadow graha) is favourable, the native (the person whose chart it is) is valiant, virile, strong, and of fine intellect, and a favourable Ketu is held to make for a Raja yoga (a royal combination that confers power and status). Servants are kept in his house. He has one or two sons, though they turn out rather base-natured. He wins the love of his kinsmen (bandhu). A desire to travel to a foreign land (videsh) stays with him. If the native becomes devout, he undertakes pilgrimages (tirtha-yatra) and becomes the head of some matha (a monastery); his teachings (updesh) leave their mark on the hearts and minds of others.
Unfavourable Results
The native is wicked and deceitful, perpetually ill, timid, and lacking in fortitude. Obstacles arise in his attainment of knowledge (gyan) and learning (vidya). Though he is mighty and capable, he still ends up in servitude to others. He suffers disease of the stomach, or the affliction of a pishacha (a malevolent, flesh-eating spirit); by these causes his good looks are destroyed. There is strife with his son, or else no sons are born to him at all and only daughters come. A fear of water grips him. His brothers come to grief through a weapon (shastra), a vata disorder (a wind-related disease), or a fall; quarrels and disputes break out with his brothers, and he works magic and sorcery (jadu-tona) upon them.
