The Person Influenced by Ketu

The person marked by Ketu, the south lunar node, the shadowy graha (celestial influence) without a physical body, has a strange, motley appearance, with a complexion that is black-and-white or smoke-hued, a lean frame, and short stature. The upper body bulges outward, yet the legs too are heavy; at times the body is thick below and thin above. The ears are large, and the region between the ears and the eyebrows is raised. The gaze is red and the speech harsh.

Tamoguni, dominated by tamas, the dark, inert quality of nature, such a person is stubborn and cruel like a boar. In auspicious periods, however, he proves a staunchly loyal servant of his master, or a devoted follower of his guru.

Influence on the Body

Within the body, Ketu rules the ears, the feet, the entire trunk apart from the head, the spinal column, the urinary tract, and all the joints. It governs activities such as tapasya (austerity), silence, moksha (liberation), greed, backbiting, walking, and hearing.
