Jupiter in the 5th House
Putra Bhav — children, intellect, romance
Favourable Results
The native (the person whose chart it is) is intelligent, large-eyed, comely to behold, illustrious, compassionate, pure of heart, and modest. He is an excellent orator, fluent and flowing in his speech, a skilful logician, and a writer. He is a knower of Brahman (brahma-jnani, one versed in the supreme reality), a man held in honour and respect, and devoted to his duty, though fierce (ugra) in temperament. He is a giver of counsel and is learned in many shastras (sacred scriptures); yet, gifted with virtues though he is, his wealth and property remain in an ordinary state. He meets with success in fields connected with learning (vidya), and so becomes a skilful teacher or professor. Through honest work his wealth increases, and he can earn gains from the practice of law (vakalat) and the like as well. His son, too, helps him in life. Guru (Jupiter), placed alone in the fifth house (Putra Bhav, the house of children), grants several sons, and after the birth of offspring (santana) his fortune (bhagya) increases. The native has a keen interest in penance (tapa), meditation (dhyana), and the practice of yoga (yogabhyasa).
Unfavourable Results
The native is given to luxury and remains absorbed in sensual pleasure. His education is left unfinished. If the other grahas that signify children (santana karaka, the significators of offspring) are also inauspicious, then the happiness he draws from children remains slight: either he has no sons, or he suffers discord (klesha) from them. Obstacles (vighna) arise again and again in the success of his undertakings, and at the very moment of financial gain, opposition rises up against him.
