2nd House — Dhan Bhav
wealth, speech, family
The Dhana Bhava, the House of Wealth
The second bhava is the second of the twelve houses, a domain of life rather than a mere astronomical division. It is known as the Dhana bhava, the house of wealth. The lord of this house, the dviteeyesh, is accordingly also called the Dhanesh, the lord of wealth. It is from this bhava that the native's financial condition and social standing are assessed.
The Karaka: Guru
The karaka (the natural significator) of this bhava is Guru, Jupiter.
A Maraka Bhava
Since this is a maraka bhava, a death-inflicting house, the illness or cause from which the native's death will occur is also examined from it.
