Venus in the 9th House

Dharma Bhavdharma, fortune, higher learning

Favourable Results

When Shukra (Venus) occupies the 9th house (the Dharma Bhava, the house of dharma, fortune, and higher learning), the native (the person whose chart it is) is pure of soul, industrious, generous, accomplished, and learned, and devoted to his guru (his preceptor). He is wealthy and fortunate, of upright character, and free of anger. He is fond of fine clothes and ornaments, and of land. He has wealth, a wife, and sons. He earns his wealth by the strength of his own arm and by hard work, yet he also profits from interest (money lent at interest) and the like, and so he grows steadily wealthier. But because his nature is religious, he spends that wealth on charity (daan), on feeding people at a sadavrat (a standing free-kitchen that gives food in perpetual alms), and on distributing clothes. For this reason he becomes quite renowned throughout the surrounding region. He treats his guests with honour. Through service to the state (rajya karma) he advances both himself and his family line (kula). He enjoys the comfort of excellent vehicles and goes on pilgrimages (tirtha-yatra). His father is long-lived. He takes an interest in meditation (dhyana), austerity (tapasya), and similar practices.

Unfavourable Results

If Shukra is afflicted (dushit, vitiated by an adverse influence), the native is luckless. His marriage comes very late, or in many cases he marries a woman of another caste or community (vijatiya), a widow, or a woman older than himself. He remains at odds with his parents and stays under the control of his wife. If Shukra is debilitated (neecha), or placed in the sign of a benefic graha, or influenced by malefic grahas (paap graha), the native commits adultery with his guru's wife or with a woman who is senior to him by family relation.
