Mercury in the 6th House
Ari Bhav — enemies, disease, debt
Favourable Results
When Budha (Mercury) occupies the 6th house (the Ari Bhava, the house of enemies, disease, and debt), the native (the person whose chart it is) is talented and virtuous, logical and skilled in reasoning, learned, and of a witty, good-humoured disposition. He becomes a respected author. He defeats his enemies and adversaries. He earns his wealth through agriculture, intellectual work, the craft of writing, and trade. His wealth is spent on auspicious works, and by keeping to honesty it grows still further. The results of his sea voyages are favourable. Through the company of saints and learned men, this native attains brahma-jnana (knowledge of the supreme, divine reality). If Budha is neecha (debilitated) or placed in a shatru rashi (an enemy's sign), he becomes a sannyasi (a renunciate). Whatever word falls from his lips, whether good or bad, is sure to come true.
Unfavourable Results
The native is lazy, harsh in speech, wrathful, quarrelsome, lustful, envious, devoid of good character (shila), and dull of intellect. His mind (chitta) is forever restless. He sets himself against his brothers and kinsmen. If the native is greedy, he will bring ruin upon himself. He develops an ulcer on his abdomen, near the navel. He is always defeated in debate. He seldom profits from handicraft work, and the results are inauspicious for his mother. His maternal uncle (mama) mostly has daughters. If Budha is vakri (retrograde), he is afflicted by his enemies.
