Saturn in the 8th House

Randhra Bhavlongevity, transformation, occult

Favourable Results

When Shani (Saturn, the slow, disciplinary, karmic graha) occupies the 8th house (the Randhra Bhava, the house of longevity, transformation, and the occult), the native (the person whose chart it is) is exceedingly clever and shrewd, and valiant. He devotes himself to the study of the esoteric sciences (gudha shastra, the hidden and occult branches of knowledge). He considers his own good to lie in the good of others. He lives away from his native place, in a distant region (pradesh). After marriage he obtains financial gain, land, and the like, though as a rule he receives no dowry (dahej) and the like. If Shani is auspicious (well placed), the native becomes long-lived.

Unfavourable Results

The native is petty and narrow-hearted, a deceiver, crooked of intellect, devoid of enthusiasm, timid, miserly, sickly, irascible, and quarrelsome. He is troubled by diseases such as skin disorders, boils and pimples, eye disorders, and piles (bavasir). Such a person does nothing but pick out the faults of others. His wealth is destroyed, and his livelihood runs on only with difficulty. He keeps relations with a woman of the shudra varna (the serving class in the traditional fourfold social order). His sons are few in number, and they too turn out cunning. Even his friends disregard and slight him, and he is dishonoured by base and lowly people. In that distant region, too, he remains sorrowful.
