Favourable Results

When Shani (Saturn, the slow, disciplinary, karmic graha) gives favourable results, the native (the person whose chart it is) is generous, cheerful by disposition, and benevolent. Full of shrewdness, he sizes up another person at a single glance. After his marriage he gains wealth and property. He buys property, whether newly built or ready-made. He earns wealth through the practice of law, through contracting, through dealings in coal, iron, and mines, or through an agency and the like. He gains wealth from the state as well. He undertakes many journeys. If Shani is exalted (ucca, at peak strength) or under an excellent influence, there is special love between husband and wife, and married life is sweet.

Unfavourable Results

The native is listless, lazy, greedy, fickle of mind, lustful, dependent on others, subservient, weak in body, and a hypocrite. He keeps company with people of the low classes. He gains nothing even from his friends, and he is quick to panic, so his mind stays restless. He meets with difficulty even in earning his livelihood, and this Shani makes him toil at wage-labour. The native gets no happiness from his wife: she is harsh of speech, vile, quarrelsome, and sickly, or else the wife dies, though he soon contracts a second marriage. He is adulterous, and forms relations with wicked women, prostitutes, and the like. Women treat him with disrespect. If the native is herself a woman, a yoga (a combination producing a result) forms for her marriage to a wealthy widower well advanced in age.
