Venus in the 1st House
Tanu Bhav — self, body, personality
Favourable Results
When Shukra (Venus) occupies the lagna (the 1st house, the ascendant), the native (the person whose chart it is) is free of disease, with a body radiant with vigour (tejasvi), beautiful eyes, happy, learned (vidvan), and long-lived, though timid by nature. He is clever and capable in everything he undertakes. He keeps the company of virtuous people (satpurush) and destroys his adversaries. He is accomplished in singing and the craft-arts (shilpakala), and he is of a steady nature, righteous and devoted to his dharma. The native enjoys excellent relations with the royal court (the seat of authority). His temperament runs to extremes: upon one who pleases him he will lavish everything he has, but against one who crosses him he will blow away even the enemy's dust (destroy the foe utterly). He spends his wealth on auspicious, meritorious deeds. He is virile (viryavan), an admirer of women, skilled in the arts of love (kama-kreeda), and he enjoys amorous union (rati) with several beautiful women. In food he favours sour and salty things. His sons too are long-lived. Affection runs strong between husband and wife. For such a person it is beneficial to consult his elders before beginning any new undertaking.
Unfavourable Results
If Shukra (Venus) is under an inauspicious influence, the native is licentious. He suffers from vata (wind-humour) and pitta (bile-humour) disorders, and from diseases of the private parts (gupt rog). Sores and ulcers (vran) appear on the waist, back, abdomen, and the like. His wife's health remains poor. The comfort and happiness he receives from his mother is scant. If Shukra is asta (combust, too close to the Sun and its results suppressed) or placed in its neecha (debilitation) rashi (sign), wealth is lost through theft, swindling, and the like. And through relations with other men's wives, the native's fortune (bhagya) is destroyed all the more.
