Saturn in the 10th House
Karma Bhav — career, status, authority
Favourable Results
When Shani (Saturn, the slow, disciplinary, karmic graha) occupies the 10th house (the Karma Bhava, the house of career, status, and authority), the native (the person whose chart it is) is valiant, content, versed in statecraft and prudent policy (a nitijna), humble, shrewd, wealthy, self-respecting, ambitious, and far-sighted. He is not himself a leader, yet he attains authority under the state (a position of governmental office and power). He carries out works of social and public service. By honouring others, his own honour grows in turn. In life the native goes on making slow but steady progress. He becomes the master of substantial landed property. He remains victorious in the contests of war (in martial rivalry and competition). Within the state he becomes a treasurer (koshadhyaksha, head of the treasury), a judge, a justice, and the like. He has a fondness for farming and for laying out gardens. He gets work done from his servants through affection and trust. He attains honour and prestige in foreign lands. In many cases this Shani also forms a sannyasa yoga (a combination indicating renunciation, the life of an ascetic). He earns the merit (punya, spiritual merit) of bathing in the Ganga.
Unfavourable Results
The native is of bad conduct, miserly, violent, merciless, and false. He suffers from diseases of the thighs. The native misuses his authority, and so he meets with infamy. He enjoys no comfort from vehicles and no comfort from friends. In many cases he meets with demotion in his service, suspension, and the like. If Shani is cruel (a harsh, malefic Saturn), it brings suffering to the mother; at times he is not even fated to behold his mother's face. It produces inauspicious results for the father as well. He does not obtain ancestral property. His sons too turn out corrupt, of bad conduct, wicked, and devoid of dharma (without righteousness or religion).
